    Contents

Lawyers and law firms are making the switch from PC to Macs. Sometimes it starts with abandoning the Blackberry for the gorgeous iPhone, then getting a slick iPad, and finally saying what the heck, let’s go all the way and issue MacBooks.

Here are a few of the top sites – some legal profession specific — that provide news, analysis, reviews, tips, tools and community for Mac loving lawyers and legal professionals.

The Mac Lawyer – The Mac-Daddy of websites for lawyers is well, The Mac Lawyer. South Carolina lawyer Ben Stevens offers up great tips, tools, reviews and articles for lawyers who use Macs.

While you’re on the site, click on the Macs in Law Office (MILO) link to subscribe to the engaging and very helpful Google group for Mac lawyers and legal techies.

iPhone J.D. – This is a site for lawyers using iPhones and iPads. Jeff Richardson generously pens some of the most comprehensive reviews you’ll find on iPhone and iPad apps for lawyers and Mac lovers. He sprinkles in choice Apple news as it relates to these two devices. A great resource.

Macs in Law – Brett Burney writes about the use of Macs, iPhones, & iPads in the practice of law. Here you’ll find the recent post chock full of good ideas, from his recent presentation at the ABA Techshow – 60 iOS Apps for Lawyers in 60 Minutes

Cult of Mac – Cult of Mac is a daily news website that provides news, insightful analysis, and honest reviews. Check out the helpful “How to” page and forum.

MacRumors – This helpful site offers more than rumors. It attracts a broad audience of both consumers and professionals interested in the latest technologies and products. They have an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Mac platforms.

9to5 Mac – More of a news site, 9to5 Mac also offers tips, reviews and updates on apps, and a forum. I checked, and the site is still live after 5pm.

AppStorm – AppStorm provides reviews of Mac apps and round them up into categorized lists, offers how-to tips and tricks to get more out of them, and combine it with a healthy dose of Mac related news.

Macworld – A web site and monthly computer magazine dedicated to Apple Macintosh products. It provides the latest news, tips and reviews on all things Mac, and has a vibrant online forum.

These are just a few of the top (and very useful) sites for Mac lawyers. Some of the great sites of old have shut down or are no longer updated. Any glaring omission or new kid on the block?
