Fastcase and Dropbox Earn Top Legal Productivity App of 2011 Honors

Congratulations to Fastcase and Dropbox for earning the top spots in our Legal Productivity App of the Year contest. After tabulating hundreds of votes, we awarded winners in two categories, a legal-specific application, and a general application that lawyers frequently use.

The competition was fierce, so along with our winners, we’d like to pay homage to the runner-up, and a few honorable mentions.

Top legal app of 2011

Fastcase – The leading next-generation legal research service app, this gem garnered enough votes to catapult it to the top.  The Fastcase app puts a comprehensive national law library and smarter and more powerful searching, sorting, and visualization tools at your fingertip.

WestlawNext – This new version of the old standard Westlaw, the legal research service from behemoth Thomson Reuters came in a close second.

Top general app of 2011

Dropbox – The near ubiquitous Dropbox earned a well deserved number one spot. It was the top overall vote getter. See Why Dropbox Rocks for Law Offices.

Evernote – A favorite or ours, Evernote finished a strong second. We love it so much that we created a Tech Tutorial writeup and video.

Honorable mention

The following apps gained a fair share of the votes and warrant a mention:

Square – This terrific mobile credit card reader app kicked off our App of the Week series.

Analytics App – A great mobile version of the Google Analytics application. If you have a blog or website and track metrics frequently, this is a very handy app.

Good Reader – We refer to this robust PDF reader for the iPad as a Swiss Army Knife for Documents.

Congratulations to our nominees, winners, runner-ups and honorable mentions, and a huge thanks to you, our faithful readers for taking the time to vote.

We will continue this dynamic series in 2012. If there’s an app you love and would like to write a guest post to tell the world about it, click here to email us your idea and we’ll be in touch!
